Service · SEO Migration

Redesign the site. Keep the rankings.

Site migrations are where SEO goes to die — when nobody's guarding it. A redesign, replatform or domain change touches every URL, template and internal link you've spent years building equity into. We run the migration playbook that keeps that equity intact, from redirect map to post-launch monitoring.

Sound familiar?

The problems that bring people to this page

The last redesign cost you half your trafficMissed redirects, dropped pages, changed URLs with no forwarding — classic. Some of that equity is recoverable even now.
Devs say 'redirects are handled'They mean the homepage works. The 3,000 deep URLs with backlinks and rankings? Those need a map, not an assumption.
Replatforming to Shopify/WordPress/headlessEach platform forces URL and rendering changes. Headless builds add JavaScript rendering risk on top.
Merging two sites after an acquisitionDomain consolidations are the highest-stakes migration type. Done right they add authority; done wrong you lose both sites' standing.

What you get

What’s inside our seo migration work

01Pre-migration benchmark

Full inventory of rankings, traffic, indexed URLs and backlink targets — the baseline every post-launch decision checks against.

021:1 redirect mapping

Every legacy URL mapped to its closest new equivalent. No blanket redirects to the homepage — that's where equity evaporates.

03Staging environment QA

Crawl of the new build before launch: meta data, canonicals, internal links, structured data, rendering. Launch blockers flagged in writing.

04Launch-day protocol

Redirect verification, sitemap submission, Search Console change-of-address where relevant, crawl monitoring from hour one.

05Post-launch watch (90 days)

Daily monitoring early, weekly after: rankings, coverage, 404s, redirect chains. Problems caught in week one stay small.

06Recovery intervention

If something slips — it occasionally does — we diagnose and correct fast, with the pre-migration benchmark as the map back.

How we think about it

Our approach, in plain terms

Migrations reward paranoia. Our playbook has one governing rule: nothing launches until the redirect map covers every URL that has ever earned a link, a ranking or a visit. We've run migrations for static rebuilds, Shopify replatforms, PHP-to-headless moves and domain consolidations — and the boring, checklist-driven ones are exactly the ones nobody notices happened. That's the goal.

Questions, answered

Questions people ask about seo migration

When should we bring you in?

Before the new site's URL structure is finalized — ideally at planning. The most expensive migration problems are baked into decisions made before an SEO ever sees the project. Second-best time: before launch. We can still QA and map. After launch, it becomes recovery work.

Is some traffic loss inevitable?

A brief re-crawl wobble of days to a few weeks is normal. Permanent loss is not — it means URLs, content or signals were dropped. Our target is a temporary dip under 5% with full recovery; well-run migrations sometimes gain, because redesigns usually improve speed and UX.

Do we need this for a simple redesign that keeps URLs?

A lighter version, yes. Template changes alter headings, internal links, rendering and speed even when URLs survive. We've watched 'design-only' refreshes quietly delete H1s sitewide. One staging crawl is cheap insurance.

Can you rescue a migration that already went wrong?

Usually, and speed matters — Google holds old-URL memory for a window. We reconstruct the legacy URL set from archives, backlink tools and analytics, then rebuild the redirect layer. The sooner you call, the more comes back.
